February 24, 2014 – Atlanta, GA – The CEO and founder of HealthStat Rx CEO and President, Patrick Dunham, in Physicians News Network – The Largo, Fla.-based medication therapy management firm recently signed an agreement with Bartz-Altadonna Community Health Center in Lancaster to provide supplement medication management services for patients who struggle with medication adherence and therapy management.
HealthStat Rx hopes to expand its specialty pharmaceutical service to other clinics on the West Coast, including in LA County.
Patrick Dunham, HealthStat Rx’s CEO, said the program allows physicians to get key information about their patients’ medication plan management in between doctor visits.
“We have an online proprietary database that documents all encounters between our pharmacists and the patients—their medication management plan, problems they encountered with the medication such as side effects and more,” Dunham said.
Physicians can securely log onto the website and read up on every encounter that pharmacists document with their patients. The notes provide information that otherwise may get overlooked or left out during office visits.
“With this new piece of information, physicians can provide better care and achieve better outcomes,” he said.
In a recent study comprising Purdue University, HealthStat Rx and 895 participants whose medications were managed by HealthStat Rx, compared to a control group that didn’t get intervention, the 30-day hospital readmission rate was down by more than 30% for all risk groups whose meds were managed.
“Our findings indicate that patients in risk level 1, who can take medications independently and have fairly good functional health, benefit from this type of intervention,” said Alan Zillich, associate professor of pharmacy at Purdue University and the study’s lead investigator, in a written statement.
